Why hire a Certified Arborist?
What does that mean?
Proper tree care revolves around Arboricultural knowledge and
experience. An individual usually needs to be mentored by many other Arborists
and become familiar with the proper arboricultural practices as identified in
the ANSI standards. Knowing these standards by the book is important but
practicing them under the supervision of competent personnel for years is a key
element required in order to become a Certified Arborist. It is important for
the company in which the individual trains and improves their knowledge to be a
TCIA Accredited Company (which Caldwell Tree Care is).
A properly trained Arborist knows how to identify tree assets, tree liabilities, and the needs. An Arborist who has experience also knows how to say, "I don't know the answer, but I will find out." You see, certification in this field is rooted in (areas of knowledge below are as identified by the International Society of Arboriculture, at the basic certification level)

Not every practicing Arborist is an omnipotent walking

ANSI Standards
And why you should care about them
As with many industries, the Tree Care industry has a set of standards from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) that are a "manual" of what to do, when to do it, and how to do it when you do. For the Tree Care industry, the set of standards is classified as A300. The standards are separated into specific sub parts that cover various areas of the industry:
- Part 1 - Pruning
- Part 2 - Soil Management
- Part 3 - Supplemental Support
- Part 4 - Lightning Protection
- Part 5 - Construction
- Part 6 - Planting
- Part 7 - Vegetation Management
- Part 8 - Root Management
- Part 9 - Tree Risk Assessment
- Part 10 - Integrated Pest Management
Caldwell Tree Care follows ANSI standards during all work completion. Our people are trained on a continual basis and are up to date on any changes to the standards as they are developed and/or adopted. Our involvement in various professional organizations helps us stay up to date on the latest news as well.
There is another set of standards, known as Z133, which governs the safety of our job sites and the workers on them. We train and follow those too.
